Jack Falahee now acknowledges that when he assumed the role of Connor Walsh, a gay law student, on ABC&8217;s critically acclaimed series How to Get Away With Murder approximately four years ago, he possessed absolutely no comprehension of the extensive scope of his own lack of knowledge.

Now, however, I comprehend that such a perspective stemmed from the pervasive heteronormativity within my mindset at that time, which was actively rationalizing this entire facet of his character's personality.

&8216;It wasn't until [the esteemed series creator] Pete Nowalk emphatically stated, 'Oh no, Connor is gay,' that I commenced a dedicated effort to rigorously study the historical landscape of LGBTQ rights and to acquire more profound insights into the myriad struggles faced by individuals, both in times gone by and in the contemporary era.

&8216;I specifically requested from Pete and my circle of friends a comprehensive reading list concerning LGBTQ history, primarily because one of the most cherished aspects of being an actor is the continuous obligation to delve into and acquire knowledge about subjects on which I have, in earlier stages of my life, been remarkably uninformed.&8217;

The information technology specialist whom Connor initially seduced ultimately proved to be far more consequential than a mere fleeting romantic encounter.

The character, Oliver Hampton (brilliantly portrayed by the openly gay actor Conrad Ricamora), stands as the central romantic interest in Connor&8217;s life, and this frequently tumultuous couple has persevered through a succession of dramatic highs and lows.

Falahee had maintained a degree of privacy regarding his personal sexual identity until subsequent to the 2016 United States presidential election. Following this period, he felt a strong compulsion to publicly affirm his heterosexuality.
