50 Cent Advises Meek Mill Against Addressing Rumors
50 Cent contends that Meek Mill's repeated responses to rumors have inadvertently amplified their spread.
During a discussion with Billboard, the Queens rapper, known as Curtis Jackson, addressed the impulse to defend oneself against rumors. For 50, however, measured responses are crucial to avoiding escalation. He cites the rumors surrounding Meek Mill's purported homosexuality and relationship with Diddy as an illustrative example.
"When someone asserts a falsehood, and the targeted person seeks vindication, the public is often drawn in," 50 told Billboard. "This is because the targeted person's desire to demonstrate the falsity of the rumor, which can inadvertently attract public attention to the topic and encourage discussion."
"That's akin to Meek Mill," he continued. "When whispers circulate that Meek is homosexual or has a relationship with Puff Daddy. It's his responses that fuel further speculation and public discourse. This cycle perpetuates the rumors' prominence in the media landscape."
50 further observed that, while French Montana has been subjected to similar allegations within the same social circle, his calculated indifference to these rumors has effectively silenced subsequent public discussion.
"You seldom hear anything about French Montana," Fif stated. "Although French was frequently around that same circle and associated with Diddy, there are no persistent rumors surrounding him. Conversely, Meek's situation is rife with speculation. It's their public responses that often trigger this reaction. They feel compelled to demonstrate that the rumor bothers them, and further fueling the negative narrative.
Back in April, five months prior to Diddy's indictment, Meek addressed the rumors on social media, expressing concern about their impact on his child.
"I refuse to accept any tales linking me to Diddy, especially after these fabricated narratives!" he posted on Monday (April 8) via X. "Should anyone attempt to sexually assault me, I'll act decisively and immediately. I'm not concerned with public perception, but am concerned about the potential for confusion about my son's identity. He's just 12 years old, so I want to make clear that there's no truth in these rumors."
After Puff Daddy's arrest, Meek offered a substantial reward to any individual who could illuminate the specifics of his association with the Bad Boy founder.
"I intend to hire a team of investigators, providing a $100,000 reward, to thoroughly examine every detail connecting my name to the 'Diddy' situation," he proclaimed on X on Monday (September 24). "I also wish to determine who's manipulating the media portrayals surrounding me. The public understands my persona, but the situation is far from simple. I am questioning the origin of this negative media campaign that aims to link my name to this matter."
