Sparks, a Cherished Life

Gay Sparks Bishoff: A Legacy of Love

Gay Sparks Bishoff, a beloved matriarch.

Born 1937 ~ Departed 2025

A Resident of Pleasant Grove, Utah
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gay Sparks Bishoff, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, on May 8, 2025, at her residence. Her earthly journey concluded at the age of 87. She entered this world on September 30, 1937, in Ephraim, Utah. Preceding her in death were her parents, Hume and Gladys Sparks, along with her brother, Larell Sparks. Her memory is lovingly carried on by her devoted husband of 68 years, John Perry Bishoff, and their children: Ken (Sally) Bishoff, Gary (Tania) Bishoff, Jay (Kris) Bishoff, and Julie (Bill) Townsend. Furthermore, her legacy extends to nineteen grandchildren and forty-eight great-grandchildren.

Having spent her formative years in Ephraim, Utah, she pursued her education at Snow College, where fate intervened, and she encountered her future husband, John. Their union was solemnized on May 31, 1957, within the sacred walls of the Manti Temple. A steadfast and devoted adherent of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, her service spanned various capacities, including roles in the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society organizations, as well as nurturing young minds as a Cub Scout Den Mother. For a quarter of a century, she contributed her skills as a secretary within the vocational department at Brighton High School in Salt Lake City. Subsequently, relocating to Annabella, Utah, she and her husband John dedicated a decade of their lives as ordinance workers in the Manti Temple. Their commitment to service also led them to a two-year mission at the Richfield Employment Center. For five years, she volunteered her time with Hospice/Home Health in Richfield, and for twelve years, she generously shared her talents as a quilter at the Richfield Senior Center. A proud member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, she held leadership positions, serving as a company president of the Sevier South DUP for six years and then as Camp Captain for the Red Butte Camp for another six years. Seeking proximity to family, they eventually relocated to Pleasant Grove. Her industrious spirit manifested in the creation of over 500 woven mats for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Program, an accomplishment of significant magnitude. Among her cherished pastimes were bowling, quilting, crocheting, knitting, and sewing. She also delighted in engaging in games and activities with her family, earning the affectionate title of "The Farkle Queen."

A viewing is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 16, 2025, between the hours of 9:30 and 10:30 AM at the Grove 8th ward chapel, situated at 1136 W. 700 S., Pleasant Grove, UT 84062. The funeral services will commence thereafter at 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM in Ephraim, Utah.
