Diane Keaton gets candid, discussing the joys of living the single life
Diane Keaton seems to be relishing her life as a woman without a partner.
During a conversation with AARP The Magazine featured on its May/April 2023 cover, the acclaimed actress of "Annie Hall" fame reflected on her professional path and private affairs, while also expressing happiness with embracing single living at the age of seventy-seven.
"Dating? Highly doubtful," was her revelation. "As far as I can recall, nobody ever reached out with something along the lines of, &x27;Hello, this is Such-and-Such. How would you feel about a date?&x27; These things just aren't happening. Obviously not."
Keaton, whose past love life includes some very well-known names -- such as Woody Allen, Warren Beatty, and Al Pacino -- opted to create her very own family after making the choice to adopt two children, a daughter by the name of Dexter Keaton who is twenty-eight, along with a son named Duke Keaton who is twenty-three, sometime in her fifties.
The Oscar-winning actress also revealed to the magazine that she recently gained a companion in her dog, Reggie, after both her grown children moved out and left her house.
"A close friend actually gave her to me," Keaton mentioned. "I hadn't even requested one. He approached me, saying, &x27;I feel that you might need a dog in your life.&x27; And I thought, &x27;Alright, why not?&x27; And now, naturally, I find myself completely smitten."
She went on, "Canines are simply too adorable to resist. They are total goofballs. Reggie is a little rascal; she&x27;s a wonderful rascal, actually, and she certainly knows how to bring the laughs."
Keaton has been quite open concerning matters of the heart. Back in 2019, while speaking with InStyle, she admitted that the last time she went on a date was thirty-five years ago.
"That&x27;s right, never," Keaton confirmed when asked if she was actively dating at the time. "Let us be clear. This point is of crucial importance. It must be about thirty-five years since my last date. Not a single date."
Keaton stated that while she has a great number of male friends, in addition to numerous friends in general, "dates are non-existent. There&x27;s no hanky-panky," before expressing her enjoyment for the single lifestyle.
"I have enjoyed a great deal of independence, with nobody calling the shots," she revealed to InStyle. "My mother always instilled that in me, which helped pave the way for achieving the things I set out to achieve. And so I went down the paths that appealed to me. I love working on houses, I am drawn to architecture, visuals, fashion -- you name it."
